In order to better understand the Itonian system, consider
the following points:
1. Being a part of the Religion of IT is a state of mind, that
is, you do not have to be listed on this website to be part of the
Religion of IT, you only have to follow the Itonian faith. By accepting
the Itonian faith, this means that you endorse weirdness and show
a reasonable amount of respect for the deity, IT. You do not
have to believe in or worship IT to be in the religion.
2. A member of the Religion of IT can belong to any number of other
religions. IT doesn't mind in the least, after all, sharing is caring.
3. By filling out the form below, you are applying to be ordained
into the Order of the Religion of IT. The Order is a group
of Itonians who are considerably more involved with the religion.
Basically they're "official" Itonians, with a little more
power over what happens in the Itonian society. Once you're ordained,
your starting rank is "Apprentice". From there, you can
be promoted or demoted through various means. There is no real obligation
to do anything as a member of the Order, for all it matters you
can just sit there happily day after day staring at your name on
the members page. However, if you do help out with religious tasks
and such, it will increase your chances of promotion to a more powerful
rank.
4. If you do not want to be in the Order, but still want to be listed on
this website as an Itonian, go to the Followers page.
5. Reason to join the Order: by joining the Order, you can learn
from and teach other Itonians in the fine art of weirdness. Or you
can just be able to say "Hey guess what, I joined an internet
cult today!". It's up to you.
6. The Religion of IT is not technically an internet cult. But
nobody's stopping you from calling it one.
